What Is Underinsurance? The 2025 Guide for UK Homeowners
December 2, 2025Our Charity Cycle Challenge
In September, the Brooklin team took on a simple idea with a big goal: an indoor charity cycle challenge covering 500 miles to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.
We set up two static bikes in our Bolton office with a shared logbook for recording distances. Staff dropped in before work, during lunch or at the end of the day to add their miles. Whether someone cycled one mile or ten, every entry helped us move closer to our 500-mile target.
How it went
The challenge ran from 15 to 26 September. We had a few teething issues, including one of the bike counters needing a quick fix, but the team kept going. By the end, we reached a total of 523 miles, going beyond our original goal.
To give the distance context, 500 miles is roughly the journey from Edinburgh to Exeter. It’s a useful way to visualise the scale of the challenge.
How much
we raised
Once all sponsorship money was collected, the total reached £790 for The Fire Fighters Charity. Colleagues supported the challenge in different ways, by cycling, sponsoring others, or donating directly, and every contribution helped us reach our goal.
Why we chose
The Fire Fighters Charity
As corporate partners of The Fire Fighters Charity, we’re proud to support the work they do for the fire service community. The charity provides mental, physical and social wellbeing support to serving and retired firefighters, as well as their families. This includes rehabilitation, recovery services and specialist mental health support.
Our partnership gives us a chance to give something back to the people who work in demanding and often challenging environments. Supporting the charity through events like this cycle challenge is a simple way for us to help them continue the work they do every day.
Next steps
We’ve now presented the cheque at Bury Fire Station with support from the charity’s fundraising team. It was a simple way to round off the challenge and acknowledge everyone who helped us reach the £790 total.
Our next fundraising activity is already underway. We’re hosting a Christmas Charity Raffle in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity, with prizes donated by a range of local businesses. The aim is to keep building support for the charity through the winter period and give something back to the community at the same time.
A final thank you
This challenge brought the team together and showed how small, steady efforts add up. Whether someone cycled a single mile, organised, donated or encouraged others, every part mattered. Thank you again to everyone who helped us raise £790 for such an important cause.
